Past Retreats

I’ve been fortunate to plan and lead yoga and wellness retreats in some truly inspiring corners of the world with Savonn Wyland. Each gathering has been guided by its surroundings, the people who join, and a shared intention to slow down, move mindfully, connect deeply, and experience both rest and adventure.

Whether set in seaside villages, alpine valleys, bustling historic cities, or secluded natural settings, each retreat highlights a different aspect of my work as a teacher and retreat guide as well as a corporate executive in my day-to-day life. Every retreat was thoughtfully designed to honor both personal reflection and shared connection.

If you’re curious about future retreats, browsing these past experiences offers a sense of how we approach retreat design and what tends to resonate most with those who join us.

Yoga Retreat at Peacock Pavilions in Morocco (May 2025)

In May 2025, we led our first retreat in Morocco at Peacock Pavilions, a beautifully designed, art-filled space tucked into an olive grove just outside Marrakech. The retreat blended yoga, wellness, and Moroccan culture in a way that felt both grounding and expansive.

Our days flowed at a relaxed pace, with daily yoga, shared meals, and plenty of time to rest, reflect, and soak in the beauty of the property. Beyond the retreat space, we explored the Medina on guided tours, ventured into the Atlas Mountains, and enjoyed a spa day devoted to restoration. Optional experiences included a hands-on Moroccan cooking class, wine tasting, camel rides in the desert, and visits to cultural landmarks like Jardin Majorelle and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum.

This retreat was a joyful introduction to Morocco - full of color, texture, history, and hospitality - and a week that left a lasting sense of connection, presence, and wonder.

We are going back in the spring of 2028.

Yoga, Hiking and E-Biking & Wellness Retreat in the Dolomites, Italy (October 2024)

October 2024, back to Italy for a yoga, hiking, e-biking, and wellness retreat in the Dolomites. Set in a dramatic alpine region of northern Italy known for its jagged peaks, expansive meadows, and quiet mountain villages, the retreat unfolded at the exquisite Hotel Kolfuschgerhof - an elegant mountain hotel offering exceptional comfort, warmth, and hospitality. This experience remains an all-time attendee favorite for the way movement, nature, and ease came together so seamlessly.

Each day offered a thoughtful balance of yoga, time outdoors, and rest. Guided hikes and e-bike rides allowed us to experience the landscape at an accessible, unhurried pace, while yoga practices supported recovery, presence, and connection after time on the trails. The rhythm of the retreat made space for both adventure and restoration, with stunning alpine scenery always close at hand.

The retreat captured the essence of the Dolomites perfectly: fresh mountain air, wide-open views, spa and wellness amenities woven into daily life, and a feeling of grounded vitality that lingers long after returning home.

Yoga Retreat in Portugal at Casa Fuzetta (October 2023, April 2024)

Two yoga and wellness retreats in southern Portugal at Casa Fuzetta, located in the historic market town of Olhão. Known for its whitewashed buildings, active wharf, and deep connection to the sea, Olhão offered a vibrant yet grounded setting rooted in food, culture, and everyday local life.

The retreats followed a relaxed coastal rhythm, with daily yoga practices balanced by time to explore the region through thoughtfully curated excursions. These included coastal hikes, a boat journey to the outlying barrier islands, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, and a private farm-to-table meal at a local winery. Onsite massage and bodywork further supported rest and recovery.

Meals were a true highlight of the retreat. Each day featured delicious, nourishing cuisine prepared by a local chef using fresh, seasonal ingredients from nearby markets. The food was deeply satisfying and quickly became something everyone looked forward to - an experience many attendees fell in love with as much as the practice itself.

Casa Fuzetta provided an elegant and quietly luxurious home base, naturally supporting both connection and solitude. The retreat center has received international recognition for its exceptional quality and atmosphere, including features in Travel + Leisure’s Top Ten Best Yoga Retreats Worldwide (2020 and 2021), recognition by ELLE Germany as one of Europe’s top retreat venues, and inclusion in the book 50 Places to Practice Yoga Before You Die.

Yoga in France - Dordogne Region (October 2019)

This retreat took place in the Dordogne region of southwestern France, at the stunning Château du Bardouly just outside Bergerac. The château offered elegant, light-filled rooms and a peaceful countryside setting that invited both rest and connection.

Each day included yoga practice and unforgettable meals prepared by a private French chef whose cuisine was a true highlight of the week. Evenings often ended gathered around the fireplace—sharing conversation, wine, and the kind of ease that naturally develops when time slows and people feel at home.

Our days were a balance of movement, culture, and exploration. Excursions included visits to the medieval town of Sarlat, weekday autumn markets in Bergerac, and the Château des Milandes, once home to Josephine Baker. Optional adventures ranged from canoeing on the Dordogne River and cycling through the countryside to onsite massage and bodywork.

This retreat became especially meaningful as it was the last international retreat held before the global pause of the pandemic - a beautiful closing chapter marked by presence, warmth, and shared experience.

Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica at Boca Sombrero, Osa Penisula (2019)

I was invited to co-lead yoga and self-care retreats at Boca Sombrero as part of a retreat tradition that spanned more than twelve years. Located on Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula - one of the most ecologically diverse regions on the planet. Boca Sombrero sits between lush rainforest and the Pacific Ocean and became a place many participants returned to again and again.

Each retreat balanced daily yoga with generous time to rest, reflect, and explore. Optional excursions allowed guests to shape their experience, from surfing and kayaking through mangroves to birdwatching, guided hikes, and full-day excursions into Corcovado National Park. One of the most meaningful experiences for many was a boat journey through the Golfo Dulce to a wildlife sanctuary accessible only by water.

Additional offerings included visits to a local organic cacao farm, horseback riding through forest and along the beach, waterfall adventures, and onsite bodywork, massage, and acupuncture in an open-air, beachside pavilion.

La Dolce Vita! Yoga Retreats in Tuscany, Italy (2018-2022)

For many years, I co-led yoga and wellness retreats at Il Borghino, a small, family-run property just outside the historic city of Lucca. Set among olive groves and rolling hills, it offered an intimate, welcoming atmosphere that kept people coming back year after year.

Our retreats followed a simple, nourishing rhythm: daily yoga practices, long shared meals, time outdoors, and space to slow down and truly experience the region. One of the highlights was always a full-day excursion to Cinque Terre or along the Ligurian coast. Some participants chose to hike the scenic coastal trails between villages, while others took a gentler approach - swimming in the sea, wandering colorful towns, and enjoying local food and wine.

Another favorite part of the week was our hands-on Italian cooking classes with the local chef, Maria-Angela. Together, we learned to make classic dishes like homemade gnocchi, fresh pesto, and tiramisu. Cooking side by side in her kitchen was a joyful, grounding experience and a beautiful way to connect with Italian culture and hospitality.

  • It doesn't get much better than this! Coffee Queen up before all of us to make sure we had a warm cup in our hand as we looked out onto the Italian countryside! Leading a multi-level class to make sure everyone got what they needed in the moment! You helped us prepare for the trip, brought love and playfulness to the week, and made sure we all practiced self care. I am so grateful.
